Best Herbs for Coronavirus
Why herbs are best for coronavirus and why should we use them? See, what I am going to talk about here in this article will not only work for coronavirus but will work for all types of viral infection.
What you must recognize is that there is no treatment for any viral infection. Antibiotics do not work on them as they are very different in how they function. There are few antivirals, but we are still far away from any effective medication.
For coronavirus, there are no vaccinations as well.
Moreover, viruses have the ability to change their genetic structure extremely fast and can mutate quickly to become a new strain. The moment they face a new medication, they tend to change themselves to a new strain.
So, how to keep ourselves protected?
There is only one way, which is to strengthen our immunity. 90% of the world’s population has an ineffective immune system that is not even well equipped to handle common cold and fever, forget coronavirus.
So how do we deal with this situation?
There are 2 awesome ways, and these are the only 2 ways that are 100% effective to achieve rock-solid immunity.
- Usage of extremely special & powerful herbs.
- Self-induce fever!! (I am adding this though this guide is about herbs, important)
Before I go ahead and talk about these steps in detail, let me just quickly take the name of those powerful herbs and food items:
Best herbs for coronavirus:
- Black Pepper
- Red Chilli
- Turmeric milk
Now, let me explain these steps in detail now….
First, let me talk about self-induced fever.
It sounds strange, isn’t it?
You would have never heard this before I guess. No one really talks about it, but this is an extremely potent weapon to arm your immunity with.
Before we walk further down the article, let’s learn what is fever?
The mechanism of fever:
We generally look at fever as something bad. But that is not the case always…
Fever has an awesome positive side to it. In fact, what you need to know is that fever is not a disease at all, it’s when your immune system is raging a battle against the invading enemy of parasites or viruses.
So, how it works?
The moment your body encounters any type of inflammation or infection, it releases a chemical called Pyrogen. Then, in turn, these chemicals go ahead and set the body temperature at a higher level.
This is done by manipulating the hypothalamus in our body. The hypothalamus in our body (located at the base of the brain) controls our body temperature and keeps it constant at 37-degree Celsius.
This is when we experience a fever.
So, what happens next?
The severe the infection is, the higher will be the temperature. That means the body releases more pyrogens, and they, in turn, raise the heat.
But why they raise the heat??
That’s how nature has created us. We have a self-defense mechanism, our body has all the medicines inside us, and our body is the world’s most well-made machine, you must know this today.
The moment the body starts heating up, a series of immune-boosting events kick in.
In brief, below are a few of them…
The First one:
As per the research published in PNAS shows that the higher body temperature activates certain proteins that are responsible to switch genes on and off, these genes are responsible for the body’s immune system as necessary.
Nuclear Factor kappa B (NF-KB) proteins play an important role in the body’s response to inflammation. They also help in the production of certain immune cells.
The research also shows that the NF-kb activity tends to slow down at lower body temperature and tends to become intense as in when the body heat starts moving up from the normal range.
The second one:
Pyrogens, when released, stimulates the immune system protein called Cytokines. Cytokines are the immune system proteins that play a significant role in our immune response whenever there is an attack.
The Third one:
The high body temperature also triggers the release of Heat Shock Proteins. HSPs play an incredible role in powering our immunity. They correct misfolded proteins, limit cell death, prevent excess protein aggregation, etc.
The Fourth one:
Fever also stimulates the production of white blood cells. White blood cells are the army that fights of the invading enemy. Other than this, fever also regulates the macrophage (one type of WBC) production which has the ability to locate their eat particles, like bacteria, virus and other parasites.
The Fifth one:
Research also shows that there are vascular changes that take place promoting increased blood flow between the organs.
All these activities kick-off when the body starts experiencing increased heat, in one-word fever. Now, these are powerful aspects of our immune system, which we can leverage even otherwise, without the fever.
This is possible by generating heat intentionally, a quick 45 mins of intense work out session can do that for you, especially running in nature.
The more you heat up your body, the better will be your immunity. So, make sure you heat your body up, no don’t burn or boil yourself, do intense cardio for 45 mins.
Now, let’s understand how those herbs can work like magic for coronavirus or any viral infection.
Remember the most effective way to fight a viral infection is by using our own immune system. A strong immune system can take any strain of virus head-on.
Here are the best herbs for coronavirus explained:
From the ancient times, Indian have always called it the “holy basil”, or the “elixir of life”, “queen of herbs”, etc. The Tulsi plant is also worshipped as a goddess due to its amazing therapeutic use and its healing properties.
Tulsi has antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory & analgesic qualities, and can be used in treating endless disorders like ulcers, Eye disease, malaria, Arthritis, blood sugar to menstrual cramps, gastrointestinal infections and many others.
Tulsi is the most potent herb to fight and cure asthma, bronchitis, colds, congestion, coughs, flu, sinusitis, sore throat, and similar ailments. As per the study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, Tulsi leaves have the ability to stimulate the production of T Cytokines, immune cells which kills virus and also T lymphocytes which increases the protective power of our immune system.
How to have Tulsi?
There are a few ways you can do that.
You need to have access to a Tulsi plant, most of the Indian will have one in their house, or in the courtyard. If you have one, then get 10 leaves, and 500 ml of water, boil it and for some time and then cool down.
Keep it stored in a bottle, preferably a copper one (don’t keep it in the fridge), keep drinking 1 cup every 2 or 3 hours, throughout the day when you have an infection, otherwise, you can have a glass of this juice in the morning every day.
If you do not have access to a Tulsi plant, which is quite normal, then please order one of these dry Tulsi leaves or Tulsi powder from Amazon.
Tulsi Milk with cardamom:
This is good when the temperature goes up. Take a pan of milk, say 500 ml, add 2 cardamom and 5 – 10 Tulsi leaves, then boil them for a good 10 minutes. Now cool them down, make sure the milk is lukewarm.
Pour it into a cup and add 1 teaspoon of honey before you consume it. Keep consuming every 2 or 3 hours, one small cup is enough.
If you are not sick you can one cup a day regularly.
Again, it’s not possible to get fresh Tulsi leaves always, get powder or dry leaves from here.
You can also prepare Tulsi tea, it’s simple, add 2 Tulsi leaf (1 for one cup of tea) or Tulsi powder or dry leaves, simmer it for some time and then add the required amount of tea powder. You can also add a small slice of ginger when you boil the water with Tulsi leaf.
Adding ginger makes it a more potent drink.
I would not recommend you to buy the Tulsi tea, I somehow feel they don’t work as effectively as you want it to work especially when you are fighting a fever.
Make your own tea, follow the process I just explained.
Ginger is another fantastic herb to ward off the feelings of Nausea. Boil few slices of Ginger and add honey to it (one teaspoon for a cup) and drink it every 3 hours a day. This will quickly relieve you from cough and sore throat.
There are various ways you can have ginger…
- Ginger honey juice: Boil a few slices of ginger, cool it down and add one teaspoon of honey and drink it.
- Ginger Lemon Honey Juice: Add few drops of lemon to it. That’s all.
- You can also take a small piece of ginger, crush it and then add it into your tea.
If you do not have access to fresh ginger, get ginger powder here
I have already mentioned honey twice with Tulsi tea and Ginger juice. The most important quality of honey is its antioxidant quality, antioxidants help the cell to live longer.
Honey is also anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and has anti-fungal properties. So always add honey to ginger or tulsi.
You can just have one spoon everyday morning. Another great combination is lemon honey juice.
Take a fresh lemon, squeeze it and take out that nice-looking sourly citrus juice, add the required amount of water, then add one spoon of honey and have it.
This is probably the world’s best health drink that exists. You get the benefits of Lemon too, which is extremely effective when it comes to fighting a fever. Go ahead and buy honey from here.
Garlic definitely has amazing antiviral qualities and considered to be one of the most powerful natural antivirals.
It has the ability to knock off cold and flu viruses, and also along with it, the research shows antiviral activity against influenza A and B, cytomegalovirus, HIV, rhinovirus, herpes virus, viral pneumonia & also rotavirus.
The compounds in garlic have the ability to boost your immune function significantly. It is always best to have raw garlic because the moment you cook or heat it up, garlic loses its therapeutic quality.
Garlic has a high content of Allin, which is thought to be the magic compound responsible for all the medicinal values that garlic has, but Allin is highly unstable, it gets destroyed when you cook too much.
So, how to have it??
I eat it raw, does not mean you will be able to. I actually chew it, that’s the best way to do it. If you can’t then take a clove of garlic and cut it into small pieces and then swallow it like a pill.
Ideally, one clove a day would be great. Keep taking the small pieces throughout the day.
Otherwise, crush a clove of garlic and pour it into a glass of warm milk and drink it up, you can always add honey.
This is another gem of an herb or spice. This is almost a regular part of any Indian diet, frequently used in various veg or non-veg dishes, which can be used in powder form in salads also.
Black pepper is high in oxidant called piperine which protects your cell from free radical damage and helps them to live longer.
Black pepper also has numerous other benefits along with it being antiviral and anti-inflammatory.
Black pepper also heats up your body, which in turn releases different types of immune responses, which I have already spoken about in the Fever section.
Pick up a black pepper of your choice from here. You can add black pepper powder to your salads, you can just sprinkle a little bit of them to freshly cut fruits and consume them.
The benefits are almost similar like black pepper, but another significant benefit is the high amount of vitamin C, which works against free radicals and boosts your immunity. Also, the capsaicin in it works like an anti-microbial and anti-analgesic component.
The spicy chili and capsaicin in it relieve you from the body pain, which you experience in the time of viral fever, it also tells the brain to release Endorphin, a pain-blocking happiness hormone, this, in turn, stimulates your entire body to perform better fluids circulation.
Your White blood cells work better in this condition and fights of the infection better.
Go out and get some red chilies right away, heat up your body and boost your immune power. You can buy red Chilli in various forms and shapes from here.
Red chili has numerous other benefits apart from fighting a viral infection like it can be an effective herb against fighting cancer, otherwise, they are incredible for your heart, etc.
But, how to have red chili??
You can’t just chew them, until and unless you are Wayne Algenio, so we need safe ways to consume them. Also, make sure you know your body limit, increase the intake slowly if needed over a period of days, know your stomach well.
You can use chillis in soup, salad and in many other dishes. You can get some awesome chili recipes from here.
Turmeric is a great herb, is in use from ancient times, and is known for its anti-microbial qualities and for its amazing effectiveness for flu and cold.
Turmeric is probably the most powerful and effective herb in existence, it has a powerful bio-active component with high medicinal properties.
Various research shows its amazing effectiveness in treating almost all the major disease like heart disease, cancer, metabolic syndrome, Alzheimer’s along with its amazing ability to fight viruses.
Another research suggests how turmeric has the ability to prevent the Zika virus and also the Chikungunya Virus infections.
Apart from all the above, there is also enough evidence that shows that Turmeric has the ability to stop the deadly rift valley fever viruses.
I can go on and on, but in brief, Turmeric is a fantastic herb and has strong antiviral abilities to fight off any virus.
How to use Turmeric:
When I was a small child, my mother used to give a slice of Turmeric to eat. Usually, it is difficult to chew raw turmeric, she used to dip it into sweet jaggery and then give it to us.
I guess that the practice of eating turmeric regularly, helped me build my immunity so strong. I do not fall sick so often.
So, you can always dip a raw slice of turmeric in jaggery or honey and consume it. If you do not have access to raw Turmeric, then the next best thing is Turmeric Milk.
Turmeric milk is one of the most potent immune-boosting drinks. This is also referred to as golden milk.
Take a glass of milk and add little turmeric powder, stop once the milk becomes golden in color. This is a fantastic drink with high medicinal value.
Take a glass of water, add a teaspoon of turmeric powder. Simmer it for 5 to 10 mins and then pour it back to the cup.
To make it taste better, please add a teaspoon of honey. You can also add few drops of lemon to it.
Drink this twice or thrice a day depending on the condition.
Camphor has large medicinal benefits and is one of the most significant herbs in Ayurvedic medicine. Camphor can be used in the treatment of nail fungus, Eczema, Hair fall, head lice, muscle pain, itching and obviously cold and cough.
Burning camphor at home while performing rituals is a common sight in every Hindu house. The fume itself is so good to inhale, it aids in better breathing.
I remember whenever we went to the Himalayas in northeast India, in our holidays, we used to be given camphor to smell so that at high altitude, we don’t face breathing problems due to thin air.
Camphor has amazing biological properties which are insecticidal, antimicrobial, antiviral, anticoccidial, anti-nociceptive, anticancer, etc.
How to use Camphor?
Please note that you should use the natural camphor, not the chemical one which is produced in the factory.
Anyway, let’s understand how to consume it.
Camphor can be used in water; a small tiny bit of camphor should be used in 200 ml of water and you should have like one spoon a day, Camphor should be used in extremely small quantity.
Please remember this should be done daily irrespective of whether you are sick or not, then only it will build your immunity.
You can burn camphor at home, which I do at my house while we perform the evening rituals. Burning camphor and inhaling the fume is extremely good, don’t inhale directly, just be around while you burn the camphor, which is enough.
Orange has high-quality Vitamin C and rich in flavonoids which helps in fighting fever and cold. Research has shown its significant ability to fight inflammation. You can take any type of orange or lemon for that.
So, don’t delay. Start boosting your immunity right away. Also, additionally, I would suggest you take up the practice of meditation. Meditation can strengthen your immunity by multiple times and bring unbelievable changes within you.
